My Darling

Alien Movement in the Sky

One eve, there sang a starling from a tree, keening quietly
One eve, sang a starling in a dream
And from the withies his voice broke free
Dipping down the day, warning me

That tree on The Levels is his roost, preening prettily
From that tree on The Levels he’ll rise
And on wing his stories fill the sky
Glossy green, purple stars cry on high

Find the lull in the noise,
Dip and yaw my darling,
Find the lull in the noise

The gliding birds over the reeds; chatter easily
The gliding birds now wheel down
Because a single bird called to the crowd
And in a giddy veil changed tack, curled around

Find the lull in the noise,
Dip and yaw my darling,
Find the lull in the noise

At dusk now he takes flight in a cloud of stippled grey, shifting softly
At dusk he takes flight, gathers pace to leave
In a pattern, hears the wind’s changing call
A murmur, twisting from the fall

Find the lull in the noise,
Dip and yaw my darling
Find the lull in the noise
